welcome to marg meikle's website

(A virtual filedrawer, a place to store stuff I want to be able to find and maybe show off, a newfangled kind of scrapbook for this century... the anti-blog.)

chandelier

May, 2006 - This was my first ever art commission. I built it with John Stinchcombe. This chandelier incorporates copper tubing, five gauges of wire, baubles, beads, marbles, crystals, and mesh.

Below: Summer 2007 - This was made for under our new canopy  It was so succesful that I floated it on etsy.com. in late Auust. It is $500 and I couldn't figure out how to change the description to say that i will do it for $400 with no colour. Stay tuned to hear about any sales. Nor could i figure out this as black. Oh well.

This is the description:

This light is in fact a wildly retrofitted ikea fixture. I've mostly made chandeliers with votive holders and candles but this electric version is a great improvement. We have it hanging outside under a canopy and it literally glows in the dark. It is dripping with a string of crystals crocheted with copper wire and adorned with 3 hand blown Robert Held glass globes. I will custom make a lamp for you if you indicate a colour you would prefer for accents. I think 4 weeks would cover the building anc shipping. I can ship from Washington State or Canada . It is made of electric light fixture, copper refridgeratpr tubing, copper wire, beads, chandelier crystals, hand-blown glass balls, and marbles.
